We’re looking for a Fulfillment Center Manager to help Ladislav Bárta to run warehouse operations smoothly. You shouldn’t be afraid to propose new solutions and independently choose the most effective technological strategies.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily operations in both our warehouses, which receive/dispatch around 20 000 books each day and stores 1,500,000 books on 6,5000 m2.
  • Ensure that the warehouses operate at peak efficiency - speed and accuracy of all the shipments.
  • In addition to 2 warehouses, we have a small in-house logistics department with 2 cars and 3 drivers.
  • The WMS is completely internally developed. As well as much of the technology, such as the photography and packing stations, everything is custom built in-house. Both SW and HW need to be continuously developed.

Project you will work on:

  • Continuous expansion of the warehouse and technologies for shipments.
  • Increasing reliability: as volumes grow, new countries open up…new situations constantly arise for which current processes are no longer sufficient and need to be further improved (or eliminated).
  • You will have complete freedom of action in agreed areas. Nothing is sacred to us, any old methods we will happily throw away if someone comes up with new functioning ideas.
  • Train and manage the warehouse team to solve day-to-day operational issues and reach short- and long-term performance goals.
  • Tendering materials and equipment for the warehouse with an annual cost of about 40m CZK. Packaging material, racks, readers, monitors, waste management, packing/photography table material, supplies. IT or Finance can help with everything, but the main person should be you.

Your profile looks ideally like this:

  • Experience in ecommerce warehouse management, with a minimum of 100 people per shift and a minimum of 30-50% Y-o-Y growth.
  • Experience and detailed insight of processing every inbound goods, quality control, order picking, shipping within time limits.
  • Very good knowledge of google sheets/excel.
  • You get along well with a wide variety of people (e.g. part-time workers, software developers).
  • Tough love - you need to be uncompromisingly strict but transparent, fair and human.
  • Stress resilience - no drama happens here, but every once in a while e.g. demand is much higher/lower than expected and you need to be flexible to respond.
  • English B2 - management meetings are in English, we are constantly adding more countries to deliver to, soon most business will be foreign.
  • A nice addition would be experience with Warehouse automation.

What is Bookbot about:

  • Bookbot creates everything internally. Minimal involvement from external suppliers. It's a strength of the company, but at the same time you have to take into account that when a new process is established, you will work it out in cooperation with our IT.
  • A specific feature of the Bookbot warehouse is that it's almost entirely staffed by temporary, part-time, high school/college students.
  • We have PowerBI and Metabase for reporting old and live data. No previous knowledge is required.
  • A lot of google sheets/excel experience is required as we create a lot of it ourselves and permanently further enhance.

What we offer:

  • Collaborate with amazing people like Simon (internal systems guru), Láďa or David (CTO).
  • We build everything in-house, tailored to our needs: there’s a wide range of problems to solve, so there’s no time to be bored, and always something to work on & improve.
  • See the immediate impact of your work—when we optimize or redesign a process, it typically has positive consequences that are visible in the warehouse, shipping, customer support, or receiving. If something goes wrong, you'll know pretty quickly!
  • An incredible opportunity to have a significant influence on the functioning of Knihobot and grow with the company at an incredible pace.
  • One extra week of vacation after one year of cooperation, two extra weeks after two years.
  • Multisport card, employee discounts for buying and selling books, parking near the office, and partner discounts.
  • The possibility to get ESOP (employee stock ownership plan) and have a financial stake in the company’s success.
  • A friendly environment and a pragmatic approach to getting things done.
